The project was made possible by £200k of funding from the Premier League with matched funding from NHS Blackpool. It launched in nine schools in 2011 and has now been extended into every one of Blackpool’s 30 primary schools.
This school year will see:
- Healthy lifestyle sessions delivered to 56 classes and 1,400 pupils
- Physical activity sessions (including breakfast/lunch and after school) reaching 2,000 pupils
- Community sessions attended by 4,500 children
- Family Workshops driving the message home to 350 parents/carers etc.
Brian Rose – the British Light Middleweight boxing champion — is Fit2Go Health Ambassador. The below video highlights the work of Fit2Go and features Brian alongside pupils from Revoe Learning Acadmey as well as the choir from Baines Endowed Primary School.
